Delilah is a miniature Shetland working alongside Ginny, who has studied community leadership and has a nursing qualifications, both of which allow her to specialise in helping venerable clients with either a mental or physical disability.
The service they provide as a team is available to both young and elderly clients as well as group sessions for venues such as care homes, SN schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centres and many more. These are ground based sessions which cater for the individual needs of the clients, these needs will be discussed prior to the session to maximise the impact of the sessions.
So What Are The Benefits?
Pony therapy is extremely beneficial for our clients due to equines being able to replicate and mirror the behaviour of an individual, this teaches individuals about their own behaviours that they are usually unaware of allowing us to bring about a variety of benefits to the individual.
An important quality of equine therapy is the lack of judgement that individuals feel from animals, this often allows them to feel acceptance and mutual respect within their sessions. Delilah also specialises in bringing everyone a smile throughout her sessions.
The benefits of horse assisted therapy include:
- Relieving stress, depression, and anxiety via endorphin release,
- Improving self-esteem, confidence, and trust,
- Improving levels of communication and sharing,
- Improving mental and physical health,
- Building better connections with animals,
- Encouraging empathy,
- Increased understanding and management of emotions,
- Encouraging relationship building,
- Reduced blood pressure
- Delilah always brings a smile to everyone’s face
